The Artist Behind the Work

A Lifelong Love for Art

From childhood, Diane was drawn to art, filling her notebooks with sketches and doodles. Though she spent years as a schoolteacher, incorporating art into her lessons, it wasn’t until her early retirement that she fully immersed herself in painting.

Formal Training & Mentors

Diane’s artistic foundation was shaped by her studies at U.S.L. (University of Louisiana at Lafayette), where she participated in the Gumbo U program, completed two semesters of drawing under Elmo Morgan, and pursued additional coursework toward an art degree. She has also studied under renowned artists, including:

  • Bobby Houston

  • Pat Soper

  • Marta Fielding

Beyond formal education, Diane has devoted countless hours to self-study and attended workshops with distinguished artists such as:
